Porcelain veneers and crowns have been greatly popularized by tv shows lately. Dentists all over the country are grateful for this and many have become veneer crazy! While veneers can be a wonderful service to many patients, Dr. Daniel will always consider more conservative approaches first. Orthodontics is often a better solution to a more beautiful smile. There are times when whitening your teeth achieves the desired result. Dr. Daniel has also worked hard to master composite bonding (tooth colored fillings) on front teeth. While porcelain veneers are thought to be superior esthetically and more long-lasting, it is often a great service to our patients to be able to offer less expensive options! Composite restorations can be gorgeous and in these days of crunched budgets they are a great alternative.
Porcelain restorations have to be made in an outside lab. So, Dr. Daniel prepares the teeth and then makes molds of those teeth. The molds are sent to a lab where the porcelain restorations are fabricated. Usually within one month, during which temporary restorations are worn, the patient has another appointment to bond the porcelain to the prepared teeth. So, the real responsibility in producing a beautiful resotation rests in the hands of a lab technician, or ceramist. Dr. Daniel only uses the best labs!
Meanwhile, with composite restorations, all of the work is done in one visit. The teeth are prepared and the restorations are placed during the same appointment. So, the esthetic result is totally dependent upon the skill of the dentist. Dr. Daniel really enjoys this kind of work and considers it a blessing and a curse to be a perfectionist in such scenarios. He likes to make sure the work is as close to perfect as possible and is most concerned that the patient is happy with the end result.
